  OBITUARY: 1. "Matawan Journal" newspaper of Matawan, NJ, archival copies available online, published 22 Jan 1914, page 4, column 1: "Caroline C. Winner, died at her home in Westwood, N.J. on January 7, aged 72 years, 5 months and 10 days, and the remains were buried at Keyport. Mrs. Winner was the daughter of the late Willliam and Nancy Smith and was born in Keyport, where she united with the M.R. Church in 1858. Later her parents removed to Matawan until 1870. Mr. Winner became a member of the New York Police force and in that year they removed to New York, remaining there until the fall of 1891, when they moved to Hazlet, where Mr. Winner bought a farm. In 1902 they removed to Keyport and four years later to Westwood, where her death occurred. Besides her husband Mrs. Winner is survived by a son and daughter. They are Mrs. Mary W. Sloat of Ridgewood, N.J., and Benj. E. Winner of Brooklyn."
