1. "The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record," 86(1955):132-148, 209-221, "The Feake Family of Norfolk, London, and Colonial America," by George E. McCracken:
"11. James Feake, third son of James Feake of Wighton (no. 7) by wife Agnes, married, by license dated Dec. 5, 1562, Parnell Ward, and died intestate, in the Parish of St. John Zachary, London, September 1590, administration granted again in 1594 (PCC Administrations 96A). Like his brother William he was a goldsmith of London, and Sir Ambrose Heal lists him for the year 1585 in his impressive but disappointing book, "The London Goldsmiths 1200-1800" (Cambridge, 1935), p. 150. James appears in his father's will in 1539 but not in any of the pedigrees. He is mentioned as deceased in the will of his brother William in 1595 and, though not named, is implied to be deceased in the nuncupative will of Parnell Feake of St. John Zachary, London, widow, dated on the 25th or 26th Oct. 1593, probated Nov. 8, 1593 (Prerogative Court of Canterbury: 80 Nevell; abstracted in "New England Historical and Genealogical Register " 47:515; Henry F. Waters, "Genealogical Gleanings in England" [Boston 1901] p. 789). She, lying sick in her house, did declare unto her three daughters Margaret, Judith, and Ann Feake, being attendant upon her, that her mind and will was that William Feake her son should have the disposition of all whatsoever she had ... And that her said son William should bestow so much of her goods upon every of her said daughters, and her son James, as he thought good. And made the said William Feake her son sole executor of the said her will. And also made William Feake, her husband's brother, Mr. Padmere, and Robert Padmere, overseers. Children: 7 (order probably chronological):
21. i. William, executor of mother's will, not mentioned in uncle William's will; probably father to two daughters baptised at St. Vedast's, London: Mary (April 23, 1597), Hanna (Nov. 19, 1598).
22. ii. James, mentioned in wills of mother and uncle; apprenticed to William Feake, goldsmith, for nine years beginning Christmas 1582.
23. iii. Margaret, mentioned in both wills.
24. iv. Judith, mentioned in both wills.
25. v. Anne, mentioned in both wills.
26. vi. Parnell, mentioned only in uncle's will; probably too young to testify at probating of mother's will.
27. vii. Mary, mentioned only in uncle's will; probably m. James Cole, St. Vedast's, Oct. 29, 1598."
