1. Charles Burr Todd, "A General History of the Burr Family," Knickerbocker Pr., New York, 1902: "Benjamin's will, dated 2 Jan 1677, mentions his wife Anna Burre, sons Samuel and Thomas, and daughters Hannah Burre and Mary Crowe; granddaughter Mary Crowe; wife and son Thomas executors, witnesses John Gilbert and William Pitkin." Also notes: "Samuel was born in England. Samuel Burr, of Hartford, CT, made freeman at Hartford in May 1658. He m. Mary Bazey, dau. of John Bazey, one of the first settlers and a prominent man in the colony. Samuel Burr d. 29 Sep 1682. He seems to have been a man of great energy and business ablilty and left quite a large estate. Invy. 541 pounds, 10s 11d., which was distributed to his chil. as follows: Samuel 170, John 101, Jonathan 100, Mary 80, Elizabeth 80. They were all minors at the time of his death, and by a provision of his will, were to possess the property as they came of age. Invy. offered in court, 5 Oct 1682. Distribution, 1684. Stephen Hopkins and Thos. Catlin, adms. Children:
