"Benjamin Johnston...
Benjamin was listed in the Dover Twp. tax ratables (GMNJ) for the year 1779.
The following will abstract is found in NJAW: A Will for Benjamin Johnson of Dover Twp. was proved on March 23, 1784. The Will lists: wife - Sarah, children: John, Daniel, William, James, David, Amos, Rachel Lemon, Elizabeth Cravat, Hannah Jacobs, Rebecah Cole, Lydia Thomson.
Some researchers in the past have identified Sarah, wife of Benjamin, as Sarah Swallow. However, recent research has discounted that assumption. Sarah Swallow was a daughter of Johannes Swallow of East Amwell, Hunterdon County, NJ and the wife of a different Benjamin Johnson, also of Amwell Township who was a contemporary of, but different from Benjamin Johnson of Dover. Benjamin Johnson of Dover Township, died testate there in 1784, and his will was proved on March 23, 1784. [Archives of the State of NJ, First Series, NJ Calendar of Wills, Vol. VI, 1781-1785]...
The following events have been recorded: Rachel Johnson married William Liming on 5/17/1750 [NJ Archives Vol. XX Marriage Records]
Notes: (1) If one assumes that Rachel was the oldest and married at 15 and Benjamin was at least 20 at the time of her marriage, then Benjamin was born not later than 1715. Benjamin Johnston, b. ca. 1715, d. 1784; m. Sarah Unknown b. ?, d. ? Issue:
