    • RESEARCH_NOTES:
      1. This is a tough family to crack. We seem only to have the marriage record below, the appearance of Elizabeth Mitchell, age 16, living with her probably grandparents Jonathan and Sarah Winner in the 1850 census of Perry Twp., and a sister Sarah (Winner) Brown naming a child Lois/Lowis Brown (1850 census shows Lois; 1860 census shows Lowis).
Perhaps Lois died early and the grandparents raised Elizabeth Mitchell. Perhaps the censuses below are for a remarried George Winner. More information is needed.
I have not been able to find George and Lois in 1850 or later via censuses. There are several George Mitchells in Brown and Clermont counties at the same time as we would expect our George, but these may be other individuals. None of these seem to work exactly. The ones I have found include:
1830 US: Perry Twp., Brown, Ohio: George Mitchel, males: 1<5, 2@5-9, 1@30-39, 1@40-49; females: 2@5-9, 1@20-29. Assuming this is right Geo. Mitchell since it is the only one in Perry Twp., it could be that Lowis may have been a second wife and step mother to several existing Children. The two older males may be George and a father.
1830 US: Pleasant Twp., Brown, Ohio: George Mitchel, males, 3<5, 1@15-19, 1@30-39; females: 2@20-29.
1840 US: Jackson Twp., Clermont, Ohio: George Mitchell, males: 1@5-10, 1@15-20, 1@40-50; females: 3@5-10, 1@15-20, 1@30-40. Possibly the same George as 1830 above. In this same township in 1840 we find James and Sarah (Winner) Brown 4 pages away. There are some other Browns and two "Pridmores" (Ephraim and William) in the same township. Area adjoins Perry, Brown, Ohio. Still looks like a mixed family if it were our George and Lois.
1840 US: Pleasant Twp., Brown, Ohio: George Mitchel, males: 3@10-14, 1@40-49; females: 2<5, 2@5-9, 1@20-29.
1840 US: Ripley, Brown, Ohio: George Mitchel, males: 1@10-14, 1@30-39; females: 1@5-9, 1@30-39.
1850 US: Pleasant Twp., Brown, Ohio: Geo. Mitchell, 51, PA; Abigail, 48, KY; children Michael, Samuel, Amos W., Mary E., Martha A., Elizabeth, Abigail, Matilda, Louisa, Lucinda, James W. (ages 23-1).
1850 US: Ripley, Brown, Ohio: George Mitchell, 49, KY: Margaret, 45, KY; Thomas, 21, OH; Elizabeth J. Boatman, 8, OH; William Boatman, 4, OH; Sarah Bratton, 13, OH; William Boatman, 34, OH.
1860 US: Pleasant Twp., Brown, Ohio: Geo. Mitchell, 61, PA; Abigail, 58, KY; Michael, 33, OH; other children Matilda, Louisa, Lucinda, James W. (ages 18-11); Martin V. Brown, 22, OH. [Is the name Louisa a variation on Lowis?]
