      1. FHL 929.273 book "A Wampler Family History," by Roy H. Wampler, 1999, pp. 30, 47:
      a. "Joh. Jacob Wampler, b. 28 Sep 1749, PA, md. 12 Oct 1788 (lic. issued 21 Mar 1788), Frederick Co., MD, Mary Bare/Behr; witnesses at the marriage were Henrich Gernhardt and Jacob Hohl. In the 1790 census, Jacob Wampler is listed as a head of family in Frederick County, with one male of 16 years and upward, one male under 16, and two females comprising his household. The 1810 census of the same county lists an M. Wampler (female), and the 1820 census lists a Mary Wampler as a head of family. Likely these entries pertain to Mary, wife of Jacob Wampler. If so, he probably died before 1810. The official poll of the presidential election in Frederick County held in Nov. 1796 shows that Jacob Wampler voted for Geo. Murdock, Elector for the Democrat-Republican party. In 1796 there was no secret ballot. A Frederick newspaper notice printed on 20 Dec 1797 states: 'Caution from purchasing bonds given by use to a Jacob Hull - Joseph Greenwald, Jacob Wampler, John Giger.' "
