1. Emails from family researcher Rose Green:
3 Jun 2015:
"I also ordered the Furth (Odenwald) records. I checked again for the marriage of Johannes Roemer and wife Anna Catharina, but did not find them. I did go through and look up the godparents of all of their children, though, and a certain Georg Weber and his wife, who also had a mixed marriage, I believe, swapped off an awful lot with them on godparent duty. I'd like to pursue them a little more to see who the Webers are and if maybe our Anna Catharina is a sister to Georg. (I don't imagine his wife is, as they have identical given names). Then again, they were also neighbors, I think. At any rate, I ordered the Birkenau film again, and will make another sweep for Webers. I know I already looked at the Moerlenbach parish for this marriage and didn't find it. But one more place to look might be the Wald-Michelbach Catholic records. I don't think I looked at those."
9 Jul 2015:
"I did have a chance to look at the Birkenau film again, but unfortunately I didn't find anything new on it. At first I was excited to see that this Hans Georg Weber, who was godparent along with his wife for several of Johannes Roemer's children, seemed to be named "Schwager" (brother-in-law) in one of the records, but on closer inspection, it looks like "Schumacher" (shoemaker) (which is confirmed in other accounts). I carefully inspected his whole family, however, hoping for clues to the Roemers (specifically Johannes's first wife Anna Catharina), and no go. The Webers lived next door and were also a mixed marriage. But Georg was the Lutheran and his wife's name is identical to that of Johannes Roemer's wife, and I just don't see two living children in the same family both named Anna Catharina. So that's a bit of a washout."
2. Rose Green indicates that Catherina was Catholic. Johannes Romer was Lutheran.
