2. The book "Pioneer Women of Faith and Fortitude" by Daughters of Utah Pioneers for Mariah Henrietta Gay Mendenhall Hales mentions George Hales was sent to England as a missionary for two and one half years. When he returned, he brought a young widow convert, Fanny Glen, and her small daughter Lillian. George later married Fanny who died following the birth of their Child, a little girl name Mae.
3. According to Ord. Index, parents are William Glenn and Ann Clark.
4. 18 Dec 2002 website indicates he adopted Mary Lillian Atkinson, b. 22 Dec 1886 at Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. It also says there were two children born: Robert Glenn Hales, b. 10 Jun 1890 at Fountain Green, Sanpete, UT and d. 2 Oct 1891 and Rosa Mae Hales, b. 14 Jun 1892 at Fountain Green, Sanpete, UT, m. Lynn A. McClellan.
BIRTH:
1. Two variant places of birth are given in Ordinance Index: Horbling, Lincoln, England and Preston, Lancashire, England both with the same date of 12 Jan 1862. The former is given with 1889 endowment whereas the latter is for recent sealing work. I use the former.
MARRIAGE:
1. Online Ordinance Index indicates first marriage to Edward Atkinson 24 Jan 1886 of Preston, Lancashire, England. According to DUP biography cited above, Fanny was a young widow of Edward before emigrating to USA.
