  • Notes
    • from the notes of Kent M. Gossman:
LIVED IN TIMELY Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, IA for what seemed like forever. I believe she suffered most of her adult life from MS. MY MOM TOLD ME THAT SPRUNK WAS INDIAN, AND PEARL WAS FULL BLOODED INDIAN, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND. IT WAS EVIDENT IN HER CHILDREN AS WELL THE MORE I THOUGHT ABOUT IT, ALL HAD A DARK COMPLETION, AND THE GIRLS HAD HIGH CHEEK BONES. I GUESS I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE SLAVIC, SINCE THEY WERE CATHOLIC, VICE INDIAN.
WAS A HOMEMAKER ALL HER LIFE. ENJOYED GARDENING, AND CANNED AND FROZE LARGE
QUANTITIES OF FOOD FOR HER FAMILY. SHE MADE MANY QUILTS FOR THE FAMILY AND ALSO LOVED DOING EMBROIDERY WORK. SHE WAS ACTIVE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD BIRTHDAY CLUB. SHE ENTERED TIMELY MISSION NURSING HOME IN OCT 1981. SHE ENJOYED THE ACTIVITIES AT THE HOME, ESPECIALLY THE CRAFTS. HER GRANDCHILDREN WERE SPECIAL TO HER AND SHE TOOK GREAT PRIDE IN EACH OF THEM. PEARL PASSED AWAY FRIDAY JUL 12, 1996 AT THE NURSING HOME. PEARLY IS SURVIVED BY HER TWO DAUGHTERS; MARY ANN AND HER HUSBAND, CLARENCE VOORTMANN OF BUFFALO CENTER, IOWA; KAREN AND HER HUSBAND TERRY RODBERG OF JOICE, IOWA; TWO SONS; KENNETH GOSSMAN AND HIS FRIEND DEB DUENES OF WASECA, MN; HARVEY AND HIS WIFE, JUDY GOSSMAN OF MASSENA, IA; THIRTEEN GRANDCHILDREN; RICHARD, ROBERT, PAUL GOSSMAN AND DONNA TABOR, DAVID AND DOUGLAS VOORTMANN, CHAD, JAY, TONYA, TIMOTHY GOSSMAN, LISA, LAURA, AND ANDREA RODBERG, AND 10 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN. SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS; HER HUSBAND EARLY ON JAN 2, 1996; ONE BROTHER ART SPRUNK, AND ONE SISTER EVELYN GLEESON. SHE WAS BURIED ON HER BIRTHDAY.
