      3. Nancy in Michigan is referred to as Mary's sister in the following transcriptions of letters from David Frederick living in San Bernardino, to daughter Mary in Utah; originals with David Fry:

      1. FHL film 928159, it. 4; book "History of the Adams, Evarts, Merriman, and White Families," by J.M. Adams, West Lebanon, NY, 1894, pp. 30-33:

Same source also gives the parentage of Sarah Ann Evarts who married John Evarts, the brother to our Mary: Sarah Ann was the daughter of John Evarts and Polly Law. She was b. June 3, 1811:
"John Evarts, b. 13 Aug 1789 died 21 Apr 1832; married Polly Law, 10 Mar 1810, who died 14 Oct 1832. Children; All these were born in Richmond, Mass.:

      Henry, b. 20 Jul 1827.

      Charles, b. 28 Mar 1831."
Same source further details the family of John Evarts and Sarah Ann Evarts:
"Sarah Ann Evarts. Born in Richmond, Mass., Jan. 3, 1811; married John Evarts at New Lebanon, June 9, 1831. John and Sarah Ann joined the Mormons; they were among those that journeyed from Nauvoo, enduring many hardships along the way. They finally located at Salt Lake, Utah. John died at Centerville, Utah, Sept. 9, 1874. Sarah died a few years earlier. No children."
Same source further details Polly's [Mary] family:
"Polly Evarts. Born in New Lebanon, N.Y., Sept. 21, 1801; married David Fredericks, Jan. 16, 1825; died Oct. 2, 1837, at Farmington, Mich. Children:
      Nancy, b. at Barre, N.Y., Dec. 16, 1825.
Mary, b. at Barre, m. Gideon Gibbs."
Same source further details Nancy's and Mary's family:
"Nancy Fredericks. Born at Barre, N.Y., Dec. 16, 1825; married John Palmer; lived at Ridgeway, Mich. After her mother's death Fredericks married again, joined the Mormons and took Mary with him; but Nancy being unwilling to go was secreted by her father's relatives and did not go. Francis R., b. 26 Feb 1873, d. 5 Dec 1884.
      All these were Mormon Children."

      MARRIAGE:
      1. There appears to be a contradiction between both of these records for dates and county; both counties were independent from 1822 on. Why the discrepancy, I don't yet know, but the extraction would generally be more accurate based on my experience:
      A. A later LDS extraction sealing 14 Dec 1983 in Ogden Temple indicates marriage between "Nancey Frederick and John Palmer 30 Apr 1846 at Washtenaw County, Michigan with husband being age 27 and wife age 19 at time of marriage. Source given FHL film 1019064 V.0-1, Batch No. M518841, dates 1828-1851. Extraction records are some of the most reliable since they come from the actual original records themselves.
      B. Website: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/mi/lenawee/vitals/marriage/dbn-apr4-2003.txt which has Lenawee County, Michigan Dibean Marriage Index: "Fredericks, Nancy - John C. Palmer, Lenawee Co., 1 Apr 1846."

      2. Received 30 Jul 2003 from Frederick descendant and researcher Mary Lou Spaulding, 1502 Haney Dr., Hays, KS 67601, 785-628-6465. The following is a partial excerpt concerning the following relation to David Frederick:
1828-1851; Washtenaw Co., Michigan - Marriage Records (FHL film 1019064)
      P. 152: April 18, 1833, Washtenaw Co, Michigan. Md. Dennis Lancaster to Hannah Frederick in Bridgewater by Howell B. Norton.
      P. 312: Received for Record the 15th day of March 1847 married April 30, 1846 John Palmer of Lenawee County aged 27 to Nancy Frederick of Bridgewater aged 19 years at the residence of Dennis Lancaster in the town of Bridgewater in presence of John Tyrel and Lady both of Clinton, Lenawee Co. By D.W. Palmer J.P.

      DEATH:
      1. Husband's obituary confirms that they had always lived in Ridgeway since it says he had resided there for 66 years.

      BURIAL:
      1. Per website :
      Palmer, John C. 1816-1894
      Palmer, Nancy, 1826-1892
Also listed in adjacent cemetery plots are other Palmers who appear to be John's parents and probable siblings as follows:
      Palmer, John, d. May 28, 1861, age 75 yr.
Palmer, Nancy, wf. John, d. 25 May 1865, age 74.
      Palmer, Leonidas, son J. and N., d. 6 Mar 1843, age 18.
      Palmer, Fenner, 1818-1904
      Palmer, Phebe L., wf. Fenner, d. 23 May 1862, age 40 yr, 3 mo.
There is also another dozen or more Palmers scattered in cemetery born in the 1840's or later who may be later generation Palmers and possible relations. I do not find John's first wife. The following appear to be probable children of John and Nancy judging from similarities with the censuses cited above:
      Grouped as a pair:
      Palmer, Henry, 1849-1921
      Palmer, Almira, 1857-1919
